British Council INSPIRE

British Council INSPIRE (2010-2013) was an International Strategic Partnerships in Research and Education project between Uzbekistan and the UK. Work focused on curriculum development for language and intercultural education at BA and MA levels in the Uzbek HE sector.

The project involved teacher training workshops for Uzbek language teachers jointly delivered by Michael Byram (Durham University), Adrian Holliday (Canterbury Christ Church University) and Leticia Yulita (University of East Anglia), along with a wide range of engagement activities delivered by students from Uzbekistan in Norwich-based primary schools. This work resulted in the creation of new language teaching materials with an intercultural focus for university students and trainee teachers.
